REVISION 3

Introduction

When Mojang releases the 1.16 Nether Update and a Server API is ready to go, we will be moving into "Revision 3" of Beyond Bedrock. Some changes will come as part of pre-1.16 to better transition systems.

Each revision, we look at the current setup of the server and make decisions that intend to benefit the community, even if it means bringing certain aspects of the game back to a more vanilla style of game-play. Revisions will often occur around Minecraft updates as they provide a good opportunity to switch systems up to go along with new content, though if required we may bring new Revisions in before so.

Expectations

1.14 to 1.15 we revised the Sleeping System, Player Shops, Animated Tree Cutting, Vein Mining, Live Map regions, Player deaths, Hopper filters, Crop farming, Warps and a lot of hours into Server Stability. We also did a lot of work on the Discord end with Logos, formatting channels and background systems for us Admins.

We added a lot and now it's time to see what works and what needs changing. In this page we hope to layout information that will help you prepare for the new revision coming in 1.16.

These are only initial changes.

Once these changes are in-effect, we can then look at what content 1.16 provides and how we can make more interesting systems for players, this revision allows us to set the groundwork.

CHANGES

Please note this list is on-going.

Market

Based on the poll we provided in Discord, we will remain offering an Admin regulated Market. The structure allows players to provide feedback and gives each player a fair setup for each trading spot.

The Market is coming back to the Overworld, located at the new Spawn location as a different layout. This also means that on our end of things we can cut some heavy plugins that were only being used for the Market world.

The Nether

With the Nether being the focus of 1.16, we will be continuing to prevent accessing the nether ceiling. We don't yet know how the new features can be used within the world and wan't to minimise any potential exploits. Not to mention we learned that Pigman farms were a big cause to TPS drops early in the 1.15 cycle.

We currently have no plans to change this at any future date.

Player Deaths

Death Chests

Death Chests will be removed for some time during the beginning of 1.16, we will decide whether to return this feature at a later date.

We use a background system that logs the history of recent player deaths, in moments where we can clearly see a players death was a result of server side issues, players can contact the team for an inventory restore. This doesn’t mean dying to the void because you got lost in the End will grant this.

Player vs Player

Players will again be able to PvP and keep inventories on death as a result.

Teleportation Methods

WARPS

Players will not be able to create warps themselves. They served a great purpose when interacting between players was difficult in the early days and we needed a solution, though warps also come with side effects as a result. We know players will miss creating warps, because lets be honest, they are way too convenient. Our plan is to encourage a use of having a Portal Hub back into the game.

Warps affect game play in negative ways. You can teleport from any location to any private or public warp available even if the owners of the warps are offline. If you are a team of players you also get an advantage over someone who may be playing solo, creating a network of 5+ warps to get wherever you want to go.

Players can also setup warps in The End, making resource hunting easy for trips to locations far out.

All in all, warps cut out any real means of alternate travel and that is something we need to address, so yes, we are stripping out the warp system and it will go back to being a tool setup by Admins only.

We don't want to just take it all away and leave you with nothing however, so here's the other change:

PLAYER TELEPORTING

I'm sure you are all familiar with /tpa player, /tpa accept.

Players will be able to request a teleport to visit players, as well as having a toggle to turn off/on requests.

You will also have access to /home to get back to your bed spawn (We will not be adding /sethome as a command as it grants an easy way to change your home teleport).

The dynamic changes when removing warps and adding player teleporting. You can only teleport to a players current location and if the player is online, if a player isn't at the location you want to be at, then you need to travel by other methods. This encourages more of a need for a hub, even more so when friends you play with aren't online, bringing Nether portals back to of important use.

1.16 will be bringing lodestones into the game, and we may look into making a plugin that utilises this for more direct portals, IE connecting two Overworld locations without the need of requiring the Nether as the middleman, but we will have to wait and see.

Encouraging players to build landmarks they need to visit, to travel to other areas is a good thing, and although the world will feel split apart at first, with a fresh Nether world and no pre-existing hub, I don't doubt that many of you will get that resolved very quickly.

0 Tick farms - duping - afk fishing

Simply put, Mojang have fixed a 3 year old bug that has existed in the game, allowing 0 Tick farms and certain duping methods to be possible. https://bugs.mojang.com/plugins/servlet/mobile#issue/MC-113809

You will need to adjust your builds in the new update.

As for AFK Fishing, Mojang have now made it so AFK fishing does not offer high valued items in 1.16. We will lift the system being used on AFK fishing.
